Bouygues acquires a group Corporate Data Hub to accelerate exchanges
Circulating data within large groups is often still a headache for organizations. Despite repeated calls over the years to break down silos, a certain number remain.
Several avenues are envisaged to meet this challenge, including that of the Data Hub and internal or private open data (to be distinguished, therefore, from open data relating to public data). This is the approach that the Bouygues Group intends to implement.
Distribute, source and exchange data
The stated objective is to promote the circulation of data within the organization. The first step will consist in speeding up and facilitating data exchanges and sharing between the various subsidiaries.
Bouygues Construction, Bouygues Immobilier, Colas, Equans, TF1 and Bouygues Telecom are directly concerned by the deployment of this Corporate Data Hub based on the technology of the French Dawex.
As a provider of technological data sharing solutions, Dawex is part of the Bouygues Group in a broader approach to data circulation. Its Corporate Data Hub also aims to lay the foundations for external data exchanges.
Bases for external exchanges
“Thanks to Dawex’s Corporate Data Hub solution, the Bouygues Group will thus be able to distribute, source and exchange data in a secure, trusted environment and gain value creation potential,” emphasizes the press release.
The publisher also highlights the compliance of its application with the “new European regulations”, as well as its ability to customize allowing the application of Bouygues’ data governance policy.
Through the implementation of an internal Data Hub, Bouygues aims to industrialize data exchanges, which will include streamlining data sourcing and pooling between subsidiaries.
Marketplace, industry data hub and corporate data hub
”Data is at the heart of our strategy, and as a signatory to the ‘I choose French Tech’ program, Bouygues has chosen Dawex’s data exchange technology to promote innovation within the Group, and to evolve our Businesses,” says Edward Bouygues, deputy chief executive officer of the Bouygues group.
The future stage will focus, at an unspecified deadline, on the implementation of new data exchange models. Several main scenarios are possible today, as highlighted by Alexandre Penon, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Development for Dawex.
And to mention the data marketplace, the industry data hub and finally the corporate data hub. These models are not exclusive and can therefore be combined. A competitor of Bouygues Telecom, SFR thus exploits another market technology to enhance its data externally via the provision of a geostatistics service.
