Colt completes acquisition of Lumen Technologies EMEA for $1.8 billion
Colt is therefore raking in Lumen’s activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This is enough to support its customers in the technological evolutions of the sector, whether it is network as a service, Zero Trust security, or hybrid cloud computing.
With this integration, Colt claims 1,300 new employees in 16 countries, 1,630,031 new kilometers of optical fiber connecting 125 European cities in 34 EMEA countries, 11,000 new kilometers of metro network in 23 countries and in particular in the United Arab Emirates, 11 cable landing stations in six countries and 10 submarine cable systems – six transatlantic and four in Europe.
Colt is thus expanding the scope of its services via PoP (points of presence) in Dubai, Estonia, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Kenya, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa and Turkey.

This acquisition also comes in a growing market. 44% of American executives plan to expand their digital infrastructure to Europe, according to the operator, 29% to the Middle East and almost one in four (24%) to Africa.

Since 2020, Lumen Technologies has been the new name of the American company CenturyLink. CenturyLink had acquired Level 3 in 2016 for $34 billion, thus merging two giants of telecommunications, networks and data centers in the business field.
Lumen generated more than $20 billion in revenue in 2020.
