The Apple Watch could be equipped with a flashlight

The flashlight function of the Apple Watch could be improved in a future version. The current function of the Apple Watch flashlight is to increase the brightness of the screen.

But attempts are being made to add a function that allows the watch to be illuminated directly like a real flashlight. According to AppleInsider, Apple has filed a patent entitled “Modular lighting assembly for a wearable device”. It is very concretely about adding a flashlight to the Apple Watch.

The flashlight would be attached to the place where the bracelet connects to the device, according to a visual present in a filed patent. The flashlight could even have its own battery so as not to deplete that of the smartwatch.

The filing of a patent does not necessarily mean that a product will be put on the market

The battery of the connected watch would thus be less stressed than with the current method, which consists of using a flashlight located in a bright screen.

However, the filing of a patent does not necessarily mean that a product will be placed on the market, and it is therefore difficult to know if this process will actually be commercialized.

It should be noted that competing smartwatches already have built-in flashlights. The Garmin Enduro 2 and Fenix 7X Pro, for example, are equipped with LED flashlights to facilitate night activities.
