The only novelty of the iPhone 15 Pro that I need is basic, reasonable, but disruptive
The Apple conference to present the new iPhone range is today. I’m not going to bury the topic: the iPhone is becoming more and more powerful. And Apple is expected to increase the basic storage capacity of the Pro models from 128 to 256 GB.
Since the release of the iPhone 12 three years ago, the Pro line of Apple smartphones has been sold with a basic storage space of 128 GB. Since then, the iPhone’s camera system has been improved to capture details in low light, and Pro Res video recording has arrived. Consequence for the memory of iPhones: The influx of content creation (and content creators) means that more and more customers have found themselves with less and less storage memory.
And I didn’t even take into account the space occupied by the iPhone’s system settings and default applications, both of which account for about 13 GB of memory.
Apple, take an example on Samsung and its Galaxy S23 Ultra
The quick solution is to offer users a larger storage capacity from the start. Samsung has done it with its Galaxy S23 Ultra. And it made the camera experience much more enjoyable.
Because there is nothing worse than investing in a smartphone for more than 1,000 euros only to realize a few months later that you either have to delete existing photos and videos, or subscribe to a monthly cloud storage subscription to stay afloat.
In addition, with the rumor of an increase in the price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, setting the base storage at 256 GB would make the surcharge a little more justifiable.
I am not asking for 8K video recording, faster USB-C charging or a built-in fingerprint sensor. Apple, just give me a little more local storage space to back up all the photos and videos that I will probably capture every day, every week and every month.
