IT & Digital salaries in France: sectors still under great pressure
Will employers with IT & Digital profiles be able to blow the whistle on salary claims? Nothing is less certain. According to the latest edition of Robert Half’s Salary Guide, hiring tensions remain a very tangible reality.
“The tension is always increased on the recruitment of these highly sought-after profiles, as part of the continuous digital transformation of companies, and the prevention of technological risks”” analyze the authors.
Is the Data Scientist still a golden profession?
At the beginning of the Data Science bubble and its democratization, the Data Scientist was raised to the rank of the most coveted profession. The situation has changed a little, even if the topic of data valorization and their democratization remains strategic.
Robert Half identifies other positions as the most sought after by companies on permanent contracts – a type of contract that acts as a standard in the sector as Numeum regularly confirms in its semi-annual barometer of French digital.
Thus, the most popular jobs for this 2024 guide are those of Infrastructure Manager, CISO, IT Project Manager, Business Developer and Systems and Networks Engineer. The acceleration of the transition to the cloud has not dried up the needs for infrastructure and systems skills.
On the contrary, companies must internalize cloud skills to manage increasingly hybrid IT and IT infrastructures. The cloud is also one of the five most sought-after skills along with project management, cybersecurity (also strategic), programming languages and Data Management.
Expensive jobs to internalize
In general, Robert Half recalls that “IT and digital functions remain key for the evolution of products and the growth of companies.”But the place of these functions in the transformation of organizations also contributes to stoking tensions and therefore wage inflation.
Profiles with skills in cybersecurity, Data and development have already been in tension for several years and are difficult to fill for mid-sized companies or without a strong employer brand.
Some positions are also proving to be the least expensive to internalize. The famous Data Scientist thus has a starting salary on average of 55,000 euros. The level is close to that of a cybersecurity expert (50,000 euros), who could prove to be more essential than ever in the event of a “big night” of cyber security.
