Apple has just officially kicked off the new versions of its operating system for its main products. The company has actually released iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10 and TVOS 17.

Announced and presented at Apple’s WWDC 2023 conference last June, the latest versions bring a large number of new and improved features.

iOS 17

iOS 17 is enriched with new features: Live Voicemail (live transcription of a voice message left by the caller), Contact posters (display of personalized images during incoming calls), StandBy (display options in recharge mode), interactive widgets, NameDrop (exchange of contacts by bringing the iPhones closely together) and Journal (creation of personal diary). Discover the improvements made to applications such as Messages, FaceTime, AirDrop, AirPlay, Safari, Music, Maps, Siri, News, Notes and Photos.

TVOS 17

Those of you who own an Apple TV can update it to TVOS 17. The new operating system adds FaceTime, which allows you to chat with other Apple users directly from your Apple TV. The option Centered frame allows all participants to be framed on the screen, while the option Split View allows you, using SharePlay in parallel, to watch shows and movies with other people during a FaceTime call. The update also introduces a new Control Center, support for third-party VPNs, a way to find your Siri remote control and improved dialogues to better hear your favorite characters.

TVOS 17 works with the following models:

  • Apple TV HD (2015)
  • Apple TV 4K (1st Generation)
  • Apple TV 4K (2nd Generation)
  • Apple TV 4K (3rd Generation)

To download the update to your TV, go to Settings, select System, click on Software updates, then select Update software. Let the update download and install.

Oh, and there’s one more thing. Apple’s HomePod also has a new update available in HomePodOS 17. Compatible models are the HomePod 2018 or newer and the HomePod mini (2020).

To update your HomePod, open the application House on your iPhone. Select the additional options button, choose Home settings, then select Updates.
